Red night light with motion sensor under the spectrometer: Mitochondriak Lab measurement

We don't guess, we measure. We measured the light in a dark room with two certified spectrometers up close, at 10–15 cm. Six pure red LEDs give a narrow spectrum peaking at 631 nm, only 18 nm wide.

  • Blue light below 500 nm: practically 0 %
  • Signal to the body clock: 240× weaker than an ordinary white LED at the same lux
  • Illuminance at 10–15 cm: 200–300 lx
  • Flicker: flicker-free, flicker index 0.00

Up close, the melanopic EDI is below 1 lx. For getting up at night, this is light that leaves the darkness undisturbed.

Technical data: 6 LEDs (1.2 W in total), motion sensor 0–3 m at 120°, switches off after 20 ± 5 s, 3.7 V 600 mAh battery, 8 hours per charge, USB-C charging, 90 × 80 × 28 mm, built-in magnet and sticker. All parameters are listed in the Specification tab.

MITOCHONDRIAK® RED NIGHT LIGHT = ZERO BLUE LIGHT and ZERO FLICKER?

The Mitochondriak® red night light is battery operated and designed for calm night-time lighting.

While exposure to natural daylight helps regulate (and reset) our circadian rhytm, and supports wakefulness, darkness and the absence of blue light in the evening signal our body to start producing melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep.

This is why it is important to pay attention to our lighting not only during the day, but also in the evening (or at night, in case you need to get up).

Thanks to being battery-operated, the Mitochondriak motion sensor red light is practically flicker-free (measured flicker index 0.00) and, running on its battery, creates no mains-related electromagnetic fields. Blue light below 500 nm is practically 0 %, as measured with two certified spectrometers (OHSP-350UVF and UPRtek CV600) in Mitochondriak Lab. With this light you'll never have to worry about your sleep being disrupted at night when you need to get up to go to toilet or to your baby.

HOW TO USE THE MITOCHONDRIAK® MOTION SENSOR RED NIGHT LIGHT?

Thanks to its built-in magnet you can place the motion sensor anywhere you need, such as in hallways, children's rooms, or offices. You can choose to keep the light on all the time or use the motion sensor (it will turn on automatically as soon as it gets dark and it detects movement).

How to use the motion sensor:

  • Charge before the first use.
  • Place the motion sensor wherever you need it (you can leave it standing on its edge, place or attach it to any iron surface thanks to its built-in magnet).
  • Choose one of the 3 positions of the light switch (according to the picture).

There are 3 motion sensor modes:

  1. Position (AUTO) - The sensor detects movement. It turns on automatically after sunset (it will not turn on if there is sufficient light) when it detects movement within a range of up to 3 metres. It will turn off after about 20 seconds (20 ± 5 s) without any movement.
  2. Position (OFF) - The light stays turned off.
  3. Position (ON) - The light stays on until someone turns it off manually. Great for any room, bedrooms and for evening lighting.

WHY SHOULD WE BLOCK BLUE LIGHT?

Do you often watch TV late into the night or work at your computer? Maybe your eyes are tired, your sleep has worsened and your eyes feel strained. Screens and many modern light sources emit a high share of blue light. We cannot avoid it completely, but in the evening we can reduce it, for example with blue light blocking glasses, that can help relieve eye fatigue, preserve your melatonin levels, and improve your circadian rhythm as well as sleep quality.

If you are interested in reducing the negative effects of artificial blue light in your household, try the Mitochondriak ® indoor lightning solutions. Your home atmosphere can also be improved with Mitochondriak® red light therapy devices which work with red and near-infrared light.

Would you like to know more about red and near-infrared light? Circadian rhythm, sleep quality and a healthy light environment are among the topics we explain in detail. You'll find more information on the effects of red light on human body on our blog.

Frequently asked questions: Red night light Mitochondriak® with motion sensor

Is this light suitable for all-night lighting?

The best environment for sleep is darkness. Use this light mainly in the evening or briefly at night when you need to get up, for example to go to the toilet or to your baby. The AUTO mode is the most practical for this.

Does the light contain blue light?

No. Our measurement with two certified spectrometers shows practically 0 % blue light below 500 nm. The light has a narrow red spectrum with a peak at 631 nm (622–640 nm).

How does the motion sensor work?

In the AUTO position the light switches on in the dark when it detects movement within 0–3 m (120° angle) and switches off after about 20 seconds (20 ± 5 s) without movement. In the ON position it stays on, in the OFF position it stays off.

How long does the battery last and how is it charged?

The built-in 3.7 V / 600 mAh battery lasts about 8 hours per charge. A full charge via USB-C takes about 2 hours. Charge the light fully before the first use.

How do I attach the light?

The back has a built-in magnet that holds on any iron surface. An adhesive sticker is included for other surfaces, or you can simply place the light on a table or shelf.
