    Mitochondriak® Light therapy devices:
How to test your light sensitivity first

You should always check your photosensitivity before using any light therapy panel. Here's how you do it:

    1. For our red and NIR light devices:

    • Turn on RED+NIR.
    • Expose an area of the body (e.g. forearm) from a distance of 15 cm from the device for 2 to 3 minutes.
    • Ideally repeat at least 2 to 3 days.
    • If you experience any redness or discomfort, you may be photosensitive and we recommend that you consult your doctor or healthcare provider before using the device.

    2. For our UV light portable prototype:

This recommendation is for our UV portable device.

    • We recommend performing the procedure first with only RED+NIR turned on, at least for two to three days (see steps in the first point).
    • If everything is OK, then repeat the procedure with UV turned on as well.
      • Turn on RED+NIR+UV and expose an area of the body (e.g. forearm) from a distance of 15 cm from the device to each light for 2 to 3 minutes.
      • Ideally repeat at least for 2 to 3 days.

If you experience any redness or discomfort, you may be photosensitive and we recommend that you consult your doctor or healthcare provider before using the device. If everything is OK, continue according to the recommendations below.

    3. For our bigger UV light therapy devices (Maxi UVB):

    • We recommend performing the procedure first with only RED+NIR turned on, at least for two to three days (see steps in the first point).
    • If everything is OK, then repeat the procedure with UV turned on as well.
      • Always start with only 30 seconds with UV on part of body and watch your skin.
      • Ideally repeat at least for 2 to 3 days. Expose an area of the body from a distance of 30 cm from the device for 30 seconds (or max. 1 minute).

If you experience any redness or discomfort, you may be photosensitive and we recommend that you consult your doctor or healthcare provider before using the device.

    • ! A slight redness of the skin after using UV is normal and desirable. However, the skin should not sting, hurt, or be in any way uncomfortable to the touch.
    • Therefore, always test your sensitivity first, 30 seconds with UV, wait 24 hours and repeat the process for at least 2 to 3 days.
    • If everything is fine, you can start using the device according to the general recommendations below.
How to use Red Light therapy panels

Use the panels at a distance of approximately 30 to 60 cm from the body, for 10 to 20 minutes. Once or several times a day, as needed.

To treat superficial parts of the body (wrinkles, skin,...), apply for 5 to 10 minutes from a distance of 30 to 60 cm.

To treat deeper parts of the body (bones, organs, tendons,...), apply for 15 to 30 minutes from a distance of 30 to 60 cm. For even deeper penetration into the body, turn on the pulsation.

The individual pulsation modes and their use for weight loss, intestines,... can be found in the manual :)

How to use Red Light therapy bulb

Use our Mitochondriak® LED therapy lamp as follows:

    1. Mount it on a table (based on manual instructions).

    2. Point bulb at the part of the body you want to treat and illuminate yourself from a distance of 30 to 45 cm for 10 to a maximum of 30 minutes.

If you are treating the skin, 10 minutes is enough. If bones and organs, 20 to 30 minutes.

How to use Red Light therapy laser

    General recommendation:

    • We generally recommend applying the laser at one point during the day (e.g. knee, palm, abdomen,...), from a distance of 1 to 2 cm, for 5 minutes, once or twice a day, depending on the problem.
    • When treating common tissues (skin, bones, joints, tendons, muscles, intestines and microbiome), we recommend using the first "continuous mode", from a distance of 2 to 5 cm and activating red or infrared light for 5 to 10 minutes (or alternate, 5 minutes of one and 5 minutes of the other).
    • When treating deeper tissues (organs, bones, joints, tendons), we recommend using the first "continuous mode", from a distance of 1 to 2 cm, activating infrared light and illuminating for 10 to 20 minutes (that is, 2 to 4 cycles).
    • For skin treatment, acne, or antimicrobial effect, we recommend turning on all 5 wavelengths and using the first "continuous mode" from a distance of about 2 to 5 cm, for 5 to 10 minutes.
    • For pain, we recommend using especially 10 Hz pulsation. For acute injuries (e.g. pain, muscle strain...): we recommend applying the laser daily for 1-2 weeks and then 3 times a week until symptoms disappear. Improvement can be observed after the first treatment or within 1 day.
    • For chronic problems/pain in a specific area: We recommend using the laser 1 to 2 times a day, 3-4 times for the first 2 weeks, and then 2-3 times a week until symptoms disappear or are significantly reduced.
How to use bigger UV light therapy devices (Maxi,...)

    1. RED/NIR light therapy.

Turn on RED/NIR or both and illuminate yourself from a distance of 30 to 60 cm for 10 to 30 minutes. Deeper tissues require a longer time and superficial parts a shorter time.

Recommendation: On our new Maxi devices, you can simply start by selecting a program according to your goal (regeneration, skin, muscles, sleep,...) and all parameters such as timer, correct intensity, pulsation,... will be set automatically. You just stand in front of the device at the desired distance of 50 to 70 cm and enjoy the therapy!

    2. Use of UV light on the device.

Our UV light is primarily suitable for stimulating nitric oxide, vitamin D production, melanin, and also some non-visual photoreceptors in the body (so-called opsins), such as OPN5 = neuropsin, which control our circadian rhythm. Thanks to suitable and short stimulation of the skin with UV light, in a suitable part of the day, you will more easily eliminate nitric oxide and your body will also more easily control biological cycles.

You can also produce Vitamin D in skin with the panel.

    • We do not recommend using UV light alone!
    • We recommend always turning on UV light together with NIR (ideally both RED/NIR).
    • Turn on the RED/NIR light on the panels, set a 5 to 10 minute timer and then turn on the UV as well.
    • For one session, we recommend turning on the UV light for 30 seconds up to max. 3 minutes.
    • Always start first with testing for a few days (see the procedure above in the section "how to test your photosensitivity") and if you do not have problems with UV light or an erythematous reaction, then you can gradually increase it by adding a few seconds each day up to a maximum of 3 minutes per therapy! However, always wait and monitor your skin after 24 hours before increasing the exposure time.
    • We recommend using UV light maximum 2 times a day with an interval of at least two hours.
    • Avoid the area of the face and eyes, and if you light up around them, we recommend wearing protective glasses and consulting your doctor (especially if you have sensitive skin).
How to use our UV portable prototype device

3 ways to use the Mitochondriak® UV portable device:

Our panel is multifunctional and very practical. If you want to use it for red (RED) and infrared (NIR) or UV light therapy, you can use it almost anytime and anywhere. However, we always recommend using it especially during the hours when there is natural sunlight outside and not too close to bedtime (at least 1 to 2 hours before bedtime).

    • a) RED/NIR light therapy.

Turn on RED/NIR or both and illuminate yourself from a distance of 15 to 30 cm for 10 to 30 minutes. Deeper tissues require a longer time and superficial parts a shorter time. You can hold the panel in your hands during therapy (when it is not connected to the network), illuminate local areas (e.g. the abdomen), slowly move it over a larger area of the body, or simply place it on a table.

    • b) Use of the device as additional lighting in the office/interior.

If you spend long periods in offices or indoors and cannot spend time outside, it may be beneficial to use the prototype as additional lighting. Since it has a nice, black and shiny design, it will "liven up" your work environment and you can turn on only NIR so that the light is not even visible. In this case, place the panel further away from the body, at least 100 cm (even more), we also recommend turning it towards a wall or a corner in the room, so that infrared light is scattered in the space through reflection.

    • c) Use of UV light on the device.

Our UV light is primarily suitable for stimulating nitric oxide and also some non-visual photoreceptors in the body (so-called opsins), such as OPN5 = neuropsin, which control our circadian rhythm. Thanks to suitable and short stimulation of the skin with UV light, in a suitable part of the day, you will more easily eliminate nitric oxide and your body will also more easily control biological cycles.

    • We do not recommend using UV light alone.
    • We recommend always turning on UV light together with NIR (ideally both RED/NIR).
    • When you go to use the UV, make sure the panel is charged so you don't have to hold it in your hand when it's plugged in.
    • Turn on the RED/NIR light on the panels, set a 5 to 10 minute timer and then turn on the UV as well.
    • Grab the panel from the back by the stand and, from a distance of at least 10 cm from the skin, move it slowly over the body and illuminate your skin for 5 minutes. In this way, you will illuminate e.g. left hand, abdomen, chest, etc., and then switch sides. For one session, we recommend turning on the UV light for max. 2 times (that means for 10 minutes total).
    • Avoid the area of the face and eyes, and if you illuminate around them, we recommend wearing protective glasses and consulting your doctor (especially if you have sensitive skin).
When during the day to use UV light therapy

We recommend using RED and NIR light from sunrise to sunset, but UV only when it's really bright outside.

    • For our prototype with only UVA, we recommend on average about an hour after sunrise and up to an hour before sunset.
    • For our Maxi UVB devices with added UVB, we recommend using at least 2 hours after sunrise and at most 2 hours before sunset. Use only as recommended above!
How many times a day can I use the device (and UV light)

If you don't spend time outside, or if you need to stimulate nitric oxide more, you can use it several times a day. We recommend turning on the UV light with a break of at least 120 minutes between each session.

Should I close my eyes or wear glasses during therapy

We recommend keeping your eyes closed. Both red light and infrared light penetrate through the eyelids. If the light bothers you too much, put on the protective glasses that are part of the package with each panel.

Always wear safety glasses when using UV light.

    Mitochondriak® indoor lighting:
How to use evening Red bulbs

Our evening light bulbs fit a standard E27/E14 socket, so you can easily screw them into any lamp in most countries, such as a bedroom bedside table, and they are blue light and flicker-free.

Use them in the evening, after sunset, if you need to light up your home before going to bed.

How to use Night Red Light with motion sensor

This light is very practical. It is battery-powered (micro USB charger included), and you can turn it on to be always on (ON/OFF), or switch it to motion sensor mode. This way the red light will turn on by itself, for example at night when you go to the toilet, and then turn off by itself. Simple. It is also suitable for babies! :)

    How to operate the sensor:

    • Charge before first use.
    • Place the sensor wherever you need (can be placed on an edge, placed on a table or attached to any metal surface thanks to magnet).
    • Select one of 3 positions on the switch:

    1. Position (AUTO) – The sensor responds to movement. The sensor turns on automatically when it gets dark (it does not turn on when there is light) and when moving nearby within approx. 2 to 5 meters. The sensor turns off after approx. 20 to 25 seconds of no movement.

    2. Position (OFF) – The light is turned off.

    3. Position (ON) – The light stays on until you manually turn it off.

Should I have Red Light bulbs on at night

NO! Our night light and bulbs are only intended for use before bed, after dark or during the night if you need to get up, for example to use the toilet or to feed a small baby.

However, we need to be in the dark during sleep so that our circadian rhythm works properly and we secrete melatonin.

    Bulbs for daytime use:
Is the incandescent bulb suitable for daytime use?

Yes. During the day, the Mitochondriak incandescent bulb can be very useful as supplementary lighting while working, at a computer, or in interiors dominated by LED lighting with a low share of infrared spectrum.

Most modern lighting today is focused primarily on efficiency and brightness, but often lacks a broader light spectrum. The incandescent bulb, on the other hand, produces a continuous spectrum that feels more natural to the eyes and improves overall visual comfort throughout the day.

It is ideal to use in a desk lamp or as a complement to your main light source, especially if you spend long hours in front of a screen.

Can I use it in the evening?

Yes. Thanks to its very warm amber character and minimal blue light component, it is also well suited for evening environments.

Unlike standard LED lights, it does not feel harsh or cold, but instead creates a pleasant, calmer atmosphere, perfect for relaxing, reading, or winding down at home in the evening.

Is it suitable as the main light source in a room?

Not really. This bulb is designed primarily as supplementary lighting, not as the main light source for an entire room.

It works best in a lamp, a workspace, or as ambient lighting that complements your existing setup and transforms the overall feel of the space.

Where do people most commonly use the incandescent bulb?

Most commonly in a home office, next to a computer, in a living room, in a reading nook, or as evening and late afternoon ambient lighting.

It works especially well wherever you want to reduce the dominance of standard LED sources and create a softer, more naturally feeling light environment.

People often use it as a complement in desk lamps, floor lamps, or decorative light fixtures.

What kind of lamp is it compatible with?

Any lamp or light fixture with an E27 socket rated for 40 W.

An open-style fixture or a small lamp works best, allowing the light and heat to dissipate naturally and letting the character of this bulb shine through.

Why does it make sense to use an incandescent bulb alongside LED?

Modern LED lighting is energy-efficient, but often has a narrow spectrum and a more pronounced blue light component.

The incandescent bulb, by contrast, produces a continuous light spectrum with a higher share of infrared radiation, which feels more natural to the eyes and improves overall visual comfort.

By combining both types of light, you can create a more balanced lighting environment that is both practical and pleasant at the same time.

    Mitochondriak® blue light blocking glasses:
How to use blue light blocking glasses

In general, we recommend that everyone wear them regularly, at least 90 to 120 minutes before going to bed.

However, if you are a biohacker, perfectionist, or simply someone who wants to do their best for their health, we recommend that you also follow the season.

This means that in the summer you can put them on later and for a shorter time before going to bed, while in the winter, when it is dark outside for a long time, you can put them on as early as 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. The glasses are aesthetic, so you can easily function in society with them.

    General questions about light therapy:
How to start with light therapy?

It doesn't matter. With every order of a Mitochondriak® Red Light Therapy Panel, you will receive everything you need to access the amazing health benefits of light therapy.

When ordering any device, you will receive a manual, a calculator, a practical PDF and everything else to enjoy your therapy to the fullest. All it takes is to read the entire manual.

    What are OPSINS?

Opsins are light-responsive proteins in the body found in various cells throughout the body (not just the eye). They respond to different wavelengths, even ones that our eyes cannot see, and help regulate a very wide range of biological processes, such as sleep-wake cycles, mood, metabolism, memory, and even skin and eye health. This is where our prototype is special, as it contains specific wavelengths of UVA light that are designed to specifically activate neuropsin and nitric oxide, helping to promote better health and circadian rhythms.

This means that by using our prototype, you will treat yourself not only to "healing" therapy with red and near-infrared light, but even a proper stimulation of your biorhythms.

Just make sure that you use your device correctly, for an adequate part of the day and not for too long, just as we described above in the "How to use the device" section.

What is the UV light in the device good for?

The device contains short wavelengths in the form of UV light, which has the task of stimulating specific processes, such as nitric oxide, endorphins, serotonin, vitamin D production, melanin production,... and thus help with the non-visual side of our circadian rhythm.

This means that with adequate use, you can improve your natural biorhythm and thus also your metabolism and sleep.

How does red light therapy work?

Photons of red and infrared light allow our cells to use oxygen efficiently, minimizing the absorption of nitric oxide by cytochrome C oxidase and thus creating enough water and ATP. Only red light therapy can penetrate deep into the body and into our mitochondria to stimulate ATP production, healing, regeneration, and in turn help improve your appearance, performance and overall well-being.

In short, red light helps our mitochondria work better and create more water and energy. When our mitochondria are healthy, our health and performance improve.

What problems can red light therapy help me with?

For example, red light therapy is used to relieve muscle spasms, minor muscle and joint pain, as well as to relieve pain and stiffness associated with arthritis. It is also used during sports or performance to improve regeneration, improve ATP production, or for better overall well-being.

Can I shine light on myself through clothes?

It is true that a large part of NIR light and some red light penetrate through some types of clothing, but we recommend exposing the skin directly. Of course, if you use the panel as interior lighting, then the clothes are irrelevant.

    Can light harm the eyes?

A typical human eye responds to wavelengths from 400nm to 700nm. The light from this device is visible red, invisible infrared and UVA. So your eyes will only see some wavelengths from the panel. Infrared light is beneficial for the eyes as well as other parts of the body. Safety glasses are not required to use infrared light, but we recommend wearing them.

The red light is very bright, so it can be uncomfortable to use with your eyes open. Especially if you are sensitive to light or have damaged eyes. Usually closing the eyes is enough to use the light directly on the face. However, if you are not sure, or the light bothers you too much, we recommend consulting a specialist or doctor.

However, wear safety glasses when using UV and never look directly into the device when the UV is on. Avoid eyes when exposed to UV light.

    Grounded barefoot shoes Mitochondriak®:
    What is grounding (earthing)?

Grounding is a conductive connection with the earth, through which we can receive electrons from the ground, which the body uses for energy production, regeneration and other important processes. Through grounding, we can also discharge surface tension from the body (caused by artificial electromagnetic fields) into the earth and allow the body to perceive the natural fields of the earth, under which we evolved.

    More in our article: www.mitochondriak.com/blog/new-shoes--try-barefoot-combined-with-the-grounding-effect/

How can I be grounded even in shoes?

In grounded barefoot shoes Mitochondriak® you are grounded even while wearing shoes. This is thanks to a special component in the sole, graphene, and a layer of real leather (pigskin), which is very similar to human skin, and a silver thread is also used.

Graphene with low insulation conducts electricity excellently and helps hold the charge, which spreads from the ground across the entire surface of the foot to the whole body.

What are the advantages of walking barefoot?
