Why should you wear blue light blocking glasses?
In our modern world telephones/smartphones have become a necessary part of our everyday life. We use them not only for work and communication, but also for entertainment. However, we should be aware that constant exposure to blue light, especially at night, which is emitted by these screens, is a serious problem for our health mainly for these two reasons:
While exposure to natural sunlight during the day helps regulate (and reset) our circadian rhythm and supports wakefulness, darkness and the absence of blue light at night signal the body to produce melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep.
The general recommendation is to wear them regularly at least 90 to 120 minutes before sleep. You should wear them mainly in the evenings and before sleep.
However, if you are a biohacker, a perfectionist, or simply a person who wants to do the maximum for your health, we recommend that you follow the seasons. This means that in the summer you can start wearing them later, not long before sleep, whereas in the winter when it becomes dark early, you can start wearing them as early as 5 pm or 6 pm.
