Bitcoin (along with other cryptocurrencies) has been gaining increasing attention recently. In the past, many of you — our customers — asked if you could pay directly with it. We’re happy to say that we have finally made it available. After all, we have been using it ourselves for years, following its development, and seeing real value in it. From now on, you can select it in your cart as a standard payment method.

With great excitement, we announce to all decentralized Mitochondriaks that we have simplified and improved Bitcoin payments. The system is now connected through the open-source decentralized BTCPay gateway, enabling both Bitcoin and Lightning payments.

What makes Bitcoin different in our view and why it gained popularity

There are many reasons why Bitcoin is currently attracting growing interest. One of the major advantages is the ability to pay online even without a bank account or payment card.

That is why we are truly pleased to finally include this payment option in our e-shop and make access easier for many people — not only Bitcoin maximalists — to the benefits that red light therapy and mitohacking can provide.

Classic Bitcoin purchase (on-chain and Lightning)

Bitcoin payment gives you two options:

• Classic on-chain Bitcoin payment, easily made through your wallet or by copying the address or QR code. This method is especially suitable for higher-value purchases — typically tens, hundreds, or more euros. It may not be ideal for very small purchases due to longer confirmation times and higher transaction fees.
• Lightning, on the other hand, enables fast Bitcoin payments with near-zero fees. It works similarly to on-chain payments, but Lightning is ideal for smaller purchases — typically a few euros or a few dozen euros.

Wondering how we implemented the new payment method? The answer is simple.

Bitcoin payments in the Mitochondriak® e-shop are secured through the BTCPay platform. The entire Bitcoin purchasing process is simple and straightforward. Here’s how it works in practice.

How to pay with Bitcoin (or another cryptocurrency) in the Mitochondriak® e-shop

We are pleased to inform all decentralized Mitochondriaks that Bitcoin payments have been simplified and improved. The system is now connected via the open-source decentralized BTCPay gateway, enabling both Bitcoin and Lightning payments.

• After confirming your order, you will see your order summary along with a payment button. Click it, select Bitcoin or Lightning, complete the payment — and that’s it.

The entire process is simple and intuitive, just like any other payment method. Let’s go through it step by step.

1. After adding any product to your cart (you can also apply a discount code), simply click continue.

2. In the second step of the checkout, choose your preferred shipping method according to your country and select the payment option "Cryptocurrencies (BTCPay)".

3. In the third step, enter your details (or log in if you already have an account), review the total amount and order details, and click "Place order with payment obligation."

4. Click Pay with Bitcoin.

5. You will be redirected to the BTCPay server to complete the payment.

6. Choose whether you want to pay via Lightning (for example using Breez) or classic on-chain Bitcoin (using your wallet or Trezor). After selecting "Bitcoin" or "Bitcoin Lightning", a QR code and address will be displayed.

7. The payment can be completed in three ways:

• Scan the invoice QR code using your mobile wallet app.
• Click “Pay with wallet” to attempt automatic connection with your default wallet installed on your computer or hardware wallet.
• Manually copy the destination address (CTRL+C) and paste it into your wallet’s transaction window.

8. That’s it. Once you confirm the transaction, you will see payment confirmation within seconds and then be redirected back to the store.
